Checking out. Hitched up and on the road by 9:30 am. Now we’re headed toward Wyoming where we’ll stop at Devil’s Tower and then Yellowstone. Stopped at this cute little town called Aladdin, Wyoming - population 15.


Got to Devil’s Tower in the afternoon. It is a giant granite formation that juts out into the sky from the base of a mountain. It rises 865 feet straight up. Legend has it that a giant bear was chasing an Indian princess up the mountain but it couldn’t keep its grip, hence the straight up and down “lines” in the formation. Actually, the composition of the rock allows it to form and brek down in hexagonal-shaped columns. The columns break off and crumble to the ground leaving what looks like the bear claw marks.

After Devil’s Tower, just found a Wal-mart to park in for the night. Joe not feeling well, so we had to stop for a day. He slept most of
Saturday June 17
And we didn’t get too far. Found another Wal-Mart and stayed over again, in Cody, WY. Just 55 more miles to Yellowstone Park.
